CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS BROTHER SENDS NOT SO "SUBTLE" MESSAGE IN DEFENSE ABOUT INAPPRORIATE TOUCHING OF CHILDREN AT HAITIAN ORPHANAGE

SATURDAY, MAY 14, 2011

Developing story....

Franciscan Brother Robert-Anthony Campbell, FSB responds to questions about inappropriate touching of children at orphanage in Haiti with subtle, arrogant and self serving scolding of child protection advocate.

Roman Catholic priest, Rev. Marc Boisvert, executive director of Pwoje Espwa in Les Cayes, Haiti (www.freethekids.org) has shut down all communication about this matter.

Where is the voice of Dr. Cynthia Desoi of Lewiston, Maine? Dr. Desoi is a member of Pwoje Espwa's board of directors and serves as the medical director of Pwoje Espwa.

Instead of responding directly to questions about his conduct with children, Brother Campbell posted this not so "subtle"message on his blog on Friday, May 13th.

Protecting children from child sex abuse, Brother Campbell, is about a community's vigilance. If it's established procedure at Pwoje Espwa for Catholic priests and brothers to bathe and touch the bodies of naked children, then please say so.

Breathe life, not death, into your words
The power of speech is not to be underestimated. It can bring life, and it can bring death. For God, “breathing” words results in life: water, animals, human beings, mercy, and compassion! Mary followed in God’s footsteps with a single word on her part that resulted in her bearing the Christ child in the world. On the other hand some of our words can be death-dealing. Saul, a persecutor of Jesus’ followers before his conversion, “breathed murderous threats” that resulted in much fear, injury, and death. How will you use your power of speech to nurture life? - Take Five For Faith

Today’s Readings: Acts 9:1-20; John 6:52-59
“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
